Useful information
Situated in the North of Europe, Estonia obtained independence in 1991 after 50 years of Russian occupation, it became a member of the European Union in 2004 and of the Eurozone in 2011. With its 1.3 million inhabitants, it is the smallest among the Baltic States. Its cultural and linguistic differences distinguish Estonia from its Latvian and Lithuanian neighbors to the advantage of its Finnish "brothers". Besides, its RFT sector benefits from this closeness with Finland but frequent ferry crossings harm its productivity.
Estonia is part of the European program of CNR. The first study on its RFT sector was carried out in 2019.
