Useful information
Located in the extreme east of Europe, Bulgaria joined the European Union in 2007 at the same time as its Romanian neighbor. With its current 7 million inhabitants, Bulgaria has 2 million fewer inhabitants than when the communist regime fell in early 90s. The country is therefore at the heart of a major demographic crisis and is struggling to develop its economy. Its RFT is considered to be a key sector for country's economic growth and is progressing rapidly on the European market. The country is working to meet the criteria for joining the Eurozone for a possible membership around 2022.
Bulgaria is part of the European program of CNR. The first study on its RFT sector was carried out in 2016.
