These highly disparate systems do not all have the same impact on the cost of infrastructure use, and have an impact on competitiveness between countries and between hauliers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-align-justify\">In fact, tolls vary widely, from \u20ac0.093\/km on Polish motorways to \u20ac0.5317\/km in Austria. Axle tax, meanwhile, varies between the European minimum of \u20ac515\/veh.year and over \u20ac1,900\/veh.year in Poland. What's more, there is no axle tax in Slovenia, although HGVs are obliged to use the motorways when they are available on their route. Finally, excise duty on diesel is no exception, rising from \u20ac10 c\/km in several Member States to \u20ac18 c\/km in Ireland. Member States' strategies in this area vary widely.
