On 1 May 2004, the European Union welcomed 10 new members, and on 1 January 2007, the 25 will become 27 with the entry of Romania and Bulgaria. The enlargement of the Union is raising serious questions among French road hauliers, who are already struggling to compete with their immediate neighbours. Will Eastern European hauliers come and set up shop in our bilateral relations and sink the French flag, or do we have opportunities to exploit?
