After a decline of -4.1% in 2012, the European TRM recovered slightly and grew by +2.1% in 2013. Growth was clearly driven by Eastern Europe, which grew by +9.3% in %. Western Europe lost -0.5% in % overall due to a decline in domestic activity, -1.2% on average, partially offset by a moderate increase in international activity (2.2% in %). France stands out with declines across the board. In contrast, the new Member States (NMS) recorded strong increases in both domestic and international trade. Poland strengthened its leading position internationally, while Germany lost ground. Internationally, European activity between third countries and cabotage exploded: +15 % and +20 % respectively.
